This book would be great for LIBRARIES and BOOK REPORTS
Of course, I'm biased----I think this is a wonderful book! But there are some aspects about it that limit its appeal to people who buy and read history books:
- It's about a niche subject---the experiences of one neighborhood during an event (the Cold War) that ended more than thirty years ago.
- It's a hardcover book; that makes it more expensive than a paperback.

One of the best ways to get young people interested in history, is to give them interesting stories from our past to read. That will show them that things happened in our past that are as engaging and inspiring as any video game!
My book shows how the Cold War affected individual people at a personal level. For example, how did Steinstuecken children invite friends to their houses, when their friends had to cross multiple East German checkpoints to come visit? What was it like to play in your backyard when armed American soldiers crossed through it on patrol, and East German border guards watched you from watchtowers? How did your parents call the plumber?
It is an excellent book for a book report by a high school student in an Advanced Placement History course, or a college history course!
I think my book would be excellent material for a general book report, or a discussion on the Cold War in general. It touches on major Cold War issues, such as the Berlin Airlift and the Ostpolitik program West Germany launched in the late 1960s, to lessen East-West tensions. It could also spur discussions students can have with their grandparents who lived during the Cold War.
